This made me think of a meeting I had last night at church, where we just gave some input into each other’s lives at our Life Center, a place where we try to love the struggling people out there to life…

What good is it, my brothers, if a man claims to have faith but has no deeds? Can such faith save him?

James 2:14

I just realised reading this,  and experienceing the love last night, where everybody is volunteers to help people struggling with big things in their lives, that we as Christians need to step up and help.

If we simply just look at the example set by Jesus, we can’t help but be compelled to step out in service, and love our neighbours.

We need to ask the Holy Spirit to soften our heart to the things that breaks God’s heart, and then we NEED to act on that. When you feel in your gut that you need to do something, simply DO it. Stop having 60 excuses why you do not want to step out of your comfort zone, and just do it with the power the Holy Spirit gives you.

I have a motto for myself in this season of my life which is the following…

People tend to think that they need to sort out their lives, before they can turn to God, but we need to show each and every person the love of Christ, where He wants you just as you are, with all your baggage, so that He can carry it for you!

I love it to see the difference made in people’s lives through people simply loving them, with no strings attached. May we all be compelled by God to live with a GRACE attitude, and LOVE PEOPLE TO LIFE!

This morning’s sermon really grabbed my, on the most powerful proof of real life within you is if you Love.

Now, love has become a really misused word over time. I mean, we say, I love my car, I love steak, and then in the same breath we will say ‘I love my wife’ or ‘I love God’.

Now, 1 John 3:14 says

Our love for each other proves that we have gone from death to life. But if you don’t love each other, you are still under the power of death.

The love that John is speaking about here, it the same love that Christ showed to us when He died on the cross for us. If we have life within us, which is the Holy Spirit, we have no choice but to have love within us.

You cannot say you have love within you, if you say demeaning things to other people. I you speak hate over other people or if you have racist thought about a certain demographic of people.

To be able to say that you love, you must treat all people like Christ treated them. Teach them out of love, and treat them like you would like to be treated at all times.

For me personally this is sometimes a really big challenge. We so often get angered out of some stupid thing somebody does to you, that you would say something along the lines of, ‘This person is SO stupid’. It does not take a lot to say this, but do we always realise what the impact of those words can have on the other person’s life? If you say this to the wrong person, you might potentially influence them in such a way that they will not want to have anything to do with the other person, and that specific relationship might be exactly what will be needed for the other persons salvation.

Think about it…

We really need to be very careful with what we say to and about our neighbors at all times, and as difficult as it may seem, we must start to think before we speak out of anger.

Yes, love goes much further that just saying something of somebody, but what the heart is full of will be evident in the way you live, and what you say to other people.

Joe is one of THE most inspiring Christian artists in South Africa to me, and after meeting him a while back, my admiration towards him has only grown.

He is the type of person that radiates the Love of God to the people around him, in everything he does, and then he is such a gifted artist on top of that.

Marriage, a sacred institution in the eyes of God…

So why do so many of us, take it so lightly, and break this bond so easily?

Friends of friends, is going through a VERY tough patch currently, and since I came to hear about this, I have had this nagging feeling within my gut that I need to do something radical to get them out of this tough patch.

However, every time I think about it, the logical part in me starts to take over, and makes me drop it, saying that it is their problem, I don’t know them well enough, so stay out of it.

I really feel called to show people the LOVE of God, in the way that He showed us, when He became sin for us, to save us from eternal damnation, but how do you show this love to people in a situation like this.

As far as I can tell, it is mainly an issue of trust that was broken, and then some forgiveness.

If anyone has some advice around situations like this, please let me know, otherwise please just pray for them, and for wisdom from my side, to know what it is that I must do.

I was sitting with my 3 month old son, sleeping in my arms, and I just simply got this overwhelming feeling of love for my kids again.

After thinking about his for feeling I got for a while, I started to realise, that this was a feeling that God gave me, just so that I can experience a piece of His heart towards us.

Since He IS Love, this truly must have only been n small piece of His heart, since I don’t think we can handle the love that He has for us, and how His heart breaks for us, when something bad happens to us.

Thank you Dad, for loving us sinners this much, and thank you for sending us your only Son to come and show us your love.

Read the following passage, and ponder on it for a while…

I pray that out of his glorious riches he may strengthen you with power through his Spirit in your inner being, so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith. And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, may have power, together with all the saints, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, and to know this love that surpasses knowledge—that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God.

Ephesians 3:16-19

So, what do you know. The love of God surpasses knowledge.

Why do we still try to measure God’s love for us in human terms?

I have been on a  journey with God the last couple of weeks around what His love means, and every time I try to place it in terms of human love, I have been disappointed.

We need to just let God love, and stop to try and measure His love in the way we measure the love we have for each other, like by the size of gifts we give to each other, or the amount of time we are willing to spend on someone.

The love of God is so big, that He was willing to carry all our sins on the cross for us, even though we did not deserve it?

Would you die on a cross, the most humiliating way to die, for someone that does not know you? You might know them, but they do not necessarily know you.

That is what our Father did for us, and we need to simply accept that.

Works will not, and I repeat, will NOT get us in heaven with God, but only accepting Jesus, which is His love for us, will get us there.

Through accepting this love, the works will come naturally, and it will not be a forced act of love, but a genuine act of love.

This is the difference to unbelievers doing good works, and a reborn Christian doing works through faith.

I pray that God will reveal His love for you today, and that this will transform your life, in ways that you will never imagine.

The last 12 hours of my life has been rather strange, and by that I mean strange in a good way.

Last night at worship team practise, a friend testified about what the Lord has been doing in his life the last 3 months, and how he just truly experienced God’s love for him. He has been turned into a walking preacher about the love of God, from a guy that didn’t speak when there was more than a few people around him. In his testimony he said the following, that hit me right between the eyes, even though I knew it.

If God wanted servants, He would create more angels. God created you for one purpose, and one purpose only, and that is to love you.

Now, we all know this, but we tend to add a ‘but’ after that line, saying something like…

When Jesus died on the cross for us, He wiped out all buts we can think about to add after the fact that we need to allow God to love us. There is nothing we can do from our side to earn His love, we already have it.

In any case, I can carry on for a while about this revelation, but this morning, during a care meeting me and 2 other friends have every Friday morning, God gave me John 1:1 in my heart.

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

After reading this scripture, I just got the following from the Lord.

I am the Word, I am within you.

WOW!

I have forever tried to memorise scripture and to be able to ‘know’ the Bible, but the Bible is just a book. In the days of the early church (Acts 2 and 4 again) the Christians did not have a Bible as we know it. They had the Torah, and the teachings of the Apostles. The Bible was only written after that, and yet they were able to really grasp God’s love.

Why in the heck do we struggle so much today to understand God’s love?

I truly feel it is because we spend too much time reading the Bible as a book, which it is, and not reading it as the Word that is within me.

Believe me, from now on, I will read the Bible from a totally different perspective, since the Word lives within me.

I am struggling a bit with putting this into practice.

A friend told me last week that I am to her love, in the way that I interact with other people and such, but for me it is not so. I tend to struggle sometimes to rather not make a sarcastic comment, because it might hurt someone, and yes, I fail quite a bit at this.

I also know part of my calling in this world, and by the way, it is part of yours as well, is to show God’s love to the people around you.

Now, I have this other friend that finds it impossible to find God in his life lately, and every time I have some kind of conversation with him around this, it simply breaks my heart that I am not able to show him God’s love.

So how does one do it?

It seems to me that every time I try to show love deliberately, I fail big, but if I don’t think about it, somebody comes and tell me stuff like I told you before.

This is just one incident like this, and I sometimes loose heart myself because I am unable to help this friend of mine, which I struggle to handle.

So, how does one show love deliberately?

Are you OK?

Now, I know that this question comes from people in my life that really cares, and I mean really cares. They are the people that I know I can call up at 1am in the morning to come bail me out of some sort of situation, and I know, as I know that God is my Lord, that they will do everything within their power to come to my and my families aid.

So I just want to use this post today to lay those fears that these people have to rest…

I am OK. In fact, I am more than OK. I know that God would not have called me to do this work that I am setting out to do, if He knew I would not be able to do it, and I also know that He is holding my hand, as I am walking this unknown forest road, that is my life right now.

I do appreciate all the prayers that I am getting from all of you, and I know that you all care. I love you all, and love every minute that we can spend together in life, and all the adventures that we have together.

Do you really believe this statement?

If you are like me, you have heard this statement at least a million times, but do you truly believe it, or do you, sometimes, like me feel that God cannot love me?

I am too bad to be loved…

But if we look at what God did for us, there is no way that God cannot love us. In John 3:16 it states that “God SO loved the world that He sent His only Son, so that whoever believes in Him shall not have to perish” (own translation)

And then we take a look at 1 John 4:16

And so we know and rely on the love God has for us.
GOD IS LOVE. Whoever lives in love lives in God, and God in him.

We need to get to a place where we can really understand the implications of Jesus dying on the cross for our sins. We forget too often that we have been saved from our sins, and we simply need to repent and confess, in Jesus’ name, and His blood covers our sin.

Let us all start to really get to that place where we can keep this mantra going and really believe it

God is love, and therefore God loves me
