By His Power

Reading this passage this morning during Bible study, it just again hit me between the eyes at how stupid we humans tend to be, by trying to control our lives.

Romans 11:7-8 (The Message)

And then what happened? Well, when Israel tried to be right with God on her own, pursuing her own self-interest, she didn’t succeed. The chosen ones of God were those who let God pursue his interest in them, and as a result received his stamp of legitimacy. The “self-interest Israel” became thick-skinned toward God.

In this passage it is clear that no matter what we as humans try to do in order to be right with God, it is not possible. Once we have made the decision to believe and walk in faith, we need to let go of our own will and let God take control of where we are going, and what we are doing.

I know this is difficult, and I am sure it will always be, as to really let go means we need to walk purely in faith. We tend to diminish faith by saying we believe, but it is SO much more than that. Faith means that if we receive a word from God to do something, that we actually do it, and not try to argue about it, or ask for more signs.

In the word there are different things that will give you clues about how to know if it is the Word of God, and once the word fits in with the the Bible says, we should stop wondering, and do.

Abraham and Paul is probably the best examples of people that listened and did when God spoke, and my prayer for myself and for all of you today is that we can get to that place where we will hear the Word clearly, and then have the courage and wisdom to act on it.

Doing Nothing

Romans 10 (The Message)

It’s the word of faith that welcomes God to go to work and set things right for us. This is the core of our preaching. Say the welcoming word to God—”Jesus is my Master”—embracing, body and soul, God’s work of doing in us what he did in raising Jesus from the dead. That’s it. You’re not “doing” anything; you’re simply calling out to God, trusting him to do it for you.

This weekend we had our church’s congregation camp. The message that was shared during the weekend was Love, and how do we as humans love.

Last night, during the final service, back at church, I probably cried about 3 time during it all, as all the emotions within me got the best of me. Listening to stories of people that loses their children, and finding that peace once somebody shows them true love just really got to me.

I was spending a lot of time last night thinking about how can I sow that kind of love to people and really communicate the love of God through the love that I show people.

Reading this scripture this morning it just became abundantly clear that nothing I can do will make me be able to do this, but only through the grace of God, He will fill me with this love in such a way that I will not be able to contain it within me any more, and the anointing will be on me, and flowing out of me.

Genuine Proved Faith

1 Peter 1:3-7 (The Message)

What a God we have! And how fortunate we are to have him, this Father of our Master Jesus! Because Jesus was raised from the dead, we’ve been given a brand-new life and have everything to live for, including a future in heaven—and the future starts now! God is keeping careful watch over us and the future. The Day is coming when you’ll have it all—life healed and whole.

I know how great this makes you feel, even though you have to put up with every kind of aggravation in the meantime. Pure gold put in the fire comes out of it proved pure; genuine faith put through this suffering comes out proved genuine. When Jesus wraps this all up, it’s your faith, not your gold, that God will have on display as evidence of his victory.

So, last night after home cell, I got into bed, feeling like a fraud. Over the last couple of weeks, I have let the world get a bit more ingrained in my life again, and I have been standing on the cliff. Having to make a decision on whether I am going to jump right back into the worldly easy life, that I have been used to, or carry on with the seemingly difficult life of following Christ, and being an example to the people in my life.

So this morning, having had a bit of time between showering and having to wake up my Baby Girl to go to daycare, I read 1 Peter 1.

Thank the Lord for giving me this passage this morning, as it has been exactly what I have needed to get my but kicked into gear once again.

I ask all of you to please pray for me on this journey, as I sometimes really struggle to keep my focus where it needs to be and I really need to be kept accountable on this. I know the God has really big plans for me here on earth, and I really just want to start getting the courage to jump into what He wants me to do, irrespective of the financial consequences it will have.

The Moka Effect (Take two)

Moka Pot

Moka Pot

Last night, before we had our worship service at church, to end a wonderful weekend of games, and social gatherings, I had to lead the team in prayer.

Arriving there, I still wasn’t sure what I was going to speak to the team about, but God placed this previous post of mine, on my heart, with a new twist.

So, taking the workings of the Moka Pot into consideration, I want to change my original analogy a bit.

The water, is you.

The coffee, is your faith and God.

The heat, is the world.

Now, when things get hot around you, pressure builds up within you. Up to the point where you need to either explode, or go up, through the funnel, containing the coffee(faith), and into the pot in the top.

As we were practising, and I were worried about what to tell the team, and all that goes with that, I just had this realisation that the only way we can get to the top, in this situation, is when we go through God in hot and sticky situations. And the best part when you get to the top, is that you will get there a changed person. You will be what everybody was looking for in the first place, and you will have the joy of having reached your destiny, through Christ.

Now, when things get sticky in you life again, turn to God, and work through Him to reach your destination.
