Be Responsible

MessyDesk

I have been asked this question a couple of time before, that if through God’s grace our sins are hidden from view, why we just don’t carry on sinning, or whether we can just carry on sinning.

The thing is, that when you come into Christ you don’t want to sin any more.  You want to live a righteous life, and you want to go out and be Jesus for other people.

In 1 Peter 1:17 it is stated very nicely, as to how God would react to this as well

You call out to God for help and he helps—he’s a good Father that way. But don’t forget, he’s also a responsible Father, and won’t let you get by with sloppy living.

Sloppy living for me is to just let go. To just give in to those sins that He has delivered you from and gave you salvation over.

When Jesus hung on the cross, He took all our sins unto Himself. Are you really going to be so selfish, to carry on doing it? I don’t think so.

Yes, Satan will still come and tempt you, as only he can, but in Christ we are strong and we have the power to withstand the attacks of the evil one.

Stand strong in Christ, and live a responsible life, for Him and for yourself.

Equals

1 Peter 3:7

The same goes for you husbands: Be good husbands to your wives. Honor them, delight in them. As women they lack some of your advantages. But in the new life of God’s grace, you’re equals. Treat your wives, then, as equals so your prayers don’t run aground.

Ok, so today I am only going to tell you guys how much I love my wife, and why…

She is beautiful, clever and drives me to be different in everything that I do.

I used to be a very stubborn person, still am, but hopefully less. She has, over the years, taught me that even if I am unhappy about something or somebody, I don’t need to react on it. Sometimes it is better to “Smile and wave” :)

She uplifts me in everything I do. If I were to come to her tomorrow and say I am leaving my job to go do something totally ridiculous, I know she will stand with me, all the way. She would even push me to go do it, and THAT is something that I know is why God gave this wonderful woman to me.

If it was not for her, I would be a very sad and uninspired person, but she pushes me to dream great big dreams, and then she will go out and push me to make my dreams become reality.

Just wanted to share this with you guys…

Priestly work

1 Peter 2:9-10 (The Message)

But you are the ones chosen by God, chosen for the high calling of priestly work, chosen to be a holy people, God’s instruments to do his work and speak out for him, to tell others of the night-and-day difference he made for you—from nothing to something, from rejected to accepted.

How often do you preach to people about what God did for you?

How often do you step out of your comfort zone in order to tell someone that you don’t know about the Amazing Grace of God?

Do you ever tell people about God that doesn’t know Him?

Why don’t we put some stories up here of the reactions of those  people, if at all…

Genuine Proved Faith

1 Peter 1:3-7 (The Message)

What a God we have! And how fortunate we are to have him, this Father of our Master Jesus! Because Jesus was raised from the dead, we’ve been given a brand-new life and have everything to live for, including a future in heaven—and the future starts now! God is keeping careful watch over us and the future. The Day is coming when you’ll have it all—life healed and whole.

I know how great this makes you feel, even though you have to put up with every kind of aggravation in the meantime. Pure gold put in the fire comes out of it proved pure; genuine faith put through this suffering comes out proved genuine. When Jesus wraps this all up, it’s your faith, not your gold, that God will have on display as evidence of his victory.

So, last night after home cell, I got into bed, feeling like a fraud. Over the last couple of weeks, I have let the world get a bit more ingrained in my life again, and I have been standing on the cliff. Having to make a decision on whether I am going to jump right back into the worldly easy life, that I have been used to, or carry on with the seemingly difficult life of following Christ, and being an example to the people in my life.

So this morning, having had a bit of time between showering and having to wake up my Baby Girl to go to daycare, I read 1 Peter 1.

Thank the Lord for giving me this passage this morning, as it has been exactly what I have needed to get my but kicked into gear once again.

I ask all of you to please pray for me on this journey, as I sometimes really struggle to keep my focus where it needs to be and I really need to be kept accountable on this. I know the God has really big plans for me here on earth, and I really just want to start getting the courage to jump into what He wants me to do, irrespective of the financial consequences it will have.

Authority

1 Peter 2:12-14 (NIV)

Live such good lives among the pagans that, though they accuse you of doing wrong, they may see your good deeds and glorify God on the day he visits us.

Submit yourselves for the Lord’s sake to every authority instituted among men: whether to the king, as the supreme authority, or to governors, who are sent by him to punish those who do wrong and to commend those who do right.

This scripture has been in my head for a couple of hours now already, due to an incident that happened at the work place yesterday, but luckily I was not involved in the incident.

The message here is pretty clear, in my opinion, that whether you agree with your boss or not, they are appointed as an authority over you, and therefore you, as a Christian, must submit yourself to that authority.

The world is challenging us as people in these days, to challenge authority, and unfortunately a lot of Christians fall prey to this method of Satan to try and create doubt with us, and I must say, that he is extremely successful in using this tool in creating doubt.

I have for a very long time fell prey to this in my life, only to not get what I want from my job, and basically be extremely unhappy with my life. A couple of months ago, I read this scripture again, and suddenly it jumped out at me, at what I need to do, in order to get peace with my job and my life.

Since then, God has blessed me in countless ways here at work and in my life, and I can do nothing but thank him for the current season in my life I am in.
