POTSC: Deep Dark Blackness

As you all know, I simply love the People of the Second Chance movement. I have bought into their message, and currently I cannot stop talking about them, to anyone willing to listen.

This week, for the Never Beyond series, they decided to release this video. This video depicts what they are about in so many ways. Please take the 4 minutes to watch this, before you continue reading.

Appearance

Doesn’t this grasshopper look nice and juicy to you?

Not?

I know of one role model I have that would love the sight of this one, since that was part of his main staple.

But on first appearance you would probably rather walk past him, because he is also wearing camel skins, and he lives out in the desert. But that might not be wise of you, to simply walk past this seemingly strange man, speaking about this ‘new’ King that world is going to see. You would probably also think he is at least a little crazy, should you hear him at first.

Who is this man you say? It is John the Baptist.

Fear

“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness, that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, and fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small doesn’t serve the world. There’s nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won’t feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We are born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It’s not just in some of us, it’s in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.

Obedience

I had an awesome experience yesterday.

Like I said in my post yesterday, I was hoping for God to supply us with a sponsorship for our ministry that we wanted to start surrounding Mountain Biking. Even though I had the meeting, and it went well, I did not get the answer that I wanted to get.

Prayer and Blessings

Today is a big day for me.

During the last couple of months, while me and my wife was preparing for this monster stage mountain bike race, the JoBerg2C, something has been growing in my heart.

POTSC: Commenting on the Unknown

This weeks poster in the Never Beyond series by People of the Second Chance is really a difficult one for me to comment on.

The Pope and the Roman Catholic Church is in many ways unknown to me. Due to many reasons I simply do not know about this denomination, other than that the world sees the Pope as the leader of the church in general in the world, and that they rule the Vatican City.

Redeem

We are flooded with negative things in this world.

Open the newspaper, and all you see is negative things. Switch on the TV, you most likely will watch something that has some negativity included in it.

When you speak to or about somebody, we sometimes focus on the negative things related to the conversation or the person, and then we tend to label them.

How can we redeem the world from all this negativity and labels?

Loyalty vs. Seasons

Currently I am standing in front of a difficult decision.

Usually loyalty will trump anything and everything, in my books. That is simply the person that I am. I tend to be overly loyal at times.

Labels

So often we will call somebody something, without thinking about it, or judge somebody by something that they do, and label them accordingly, without taking the time out to really get to know them and not judging them by looking at the cover of the book.

Leza Liversage – Nader

Leza Liversage’s new CD Nader is one of the new local productions available in South Africa.

This has been quite a tricky one for me, mainly because I love this CD so much. It seems to be easier to write a review of music, when there is something that one can be critical about, but I simply have not found something like this on this CD.

This has become my early morning music in the last couple of weeks, since I have received this CD.

To give a bit of background, for my international readers, Leza is an Afrikaans singer, that used to be the Luidkeels girl. Luidkeels is probably the  biggest Afrikaans worship CD series out in South Africa, but of that I am also not surprised, since Retief Burger is the voice behind Luidkeels, and he is probably one of the humblest people I have had the privilege to meet, paired with an unmatched voice and talent.

Now, to get back to Leza. From a vocal point of view, there are few that will be able to keep up with her, in my humble opinion. She has been blessed with a voice that soothes the soul.

This CD is a must for each and everyone that loves female solo artists, and want to listen to music that will bring you closer to you Maker.

Should you be curios to listen to her CD, you will be able to get it in all good Christian music stores, or you can go buy it online at http://www.merchantmusic.co.za
