Miracles

miracles

53 When Jesus finished telling these parables, he left that place 54 and went back to his hometown. He taught in the synagogue, and those who heard him were amazed. “Where did he get such wisdom?” they asked. “And what about his miracles? 55 Isn’t he the carpenter’s son? Isn’t Mary his mother, and aren’t James, Joseph, Simon, and Judas his brothers? 56 Aren’t all his sisters living here? Where did he get all this?” 57 And so they rejected him. Jesus said to them, “A prophet is respected everywhere except in his hometown and by his own family.”

58 Because they did not have faith, he did not perform many miracles there.

- Matthew 13:53-58 (GNT)

Grace

Why do we as people behave differently when we are online, than we would when we speak to a person face to face?

Why do we get antagonistic towards things people write online, when we can simply read it, take it for what it is, and leave it at that.

I have been called many things in my life. These range from arrogant to stupid, in many different colours and flavours.

Thank goodness I know who I am and who I find my identity in.

Have Faith

praying

“This is why I tell you: do not be worried about the food and drink you need in order to stay alive, or about clothes for your body. After all, isn’t life worth more than food? And isn’t the body worth more than clothes? Look at the birds: they do not plant seeds, gather a harvest and put it in barns; yet your Father in heaven takes care of them! Aren’t you worth much more than birds?

Carrying on from my post yesterday on reading the Word of God, I felt I had to go and dig in the archives to ‘resurrect’ part of an old post I wrote on the Word of God.

Why is it, that it has become acceptable to have a consumerist view on church?

What has made us get so comfortable in our faith, that we are willing to walk into a church building, sit down, and wait for a pastor to serve us with a great message, then we walk out, and carry on with our lives?

And if you speak only to your friends, have you done anything out of the ordinary? Even the pagans do that!

Never Ending…

Up to now I have refrained from commenting on the whole issue that is doing the round on hell, which was stirred by Rob Bell and his new book Love Wins. Now, I have not read Love Wins yet, but I am planning on reading it soon, so I am not going to comment on what he said or didn’t say. I can however comment on what I read in the Bible.
