Action Day #1

bottled-waterOK, so I have been lax in not posting the action day on the day that I was supposed to, but I am struggling to read all the different books, and to keep up with all of them at the same time, but here is some brilliant practical tips to start make a difference to those people in need we encounter every day at the intersections…

Granola Bars and Bottled Water

Buy bottled waters, and the same amount of soft granola bars. Tape the granola bars to the water bottles, and put them in a box in your car, and when you meet a homeless person at an intersection, asking for help, hand them a bottle of water with the granola bar…

Clothing Drive

Get all the excess clothes in your closet, and go and get some from your neighbours, family and friends, and give them to the local shelter for distribution, or go and hand the clothes out yourself, and go and serve the needy, like Jesus did.

Bag of Groceries

Go to the grocery store and buy a bag full of groceries of the stuff that you would like to have. They must, obviously, not need to be refrigerated, and practical foods like fruits and vegetables (canned or fresh) will be great. Go hand this to a homeless person, and serve them with prayer as well.

These might be out of the box things to do for you, but remember, God first loved you, and through His word, He commands you to “go and do likewise” and “love your neighbour as yourself” (Luke 10:25-37)

So, which one of these options are you going to try and do this week? Please remember to also come back here, and give feedback. Feedback of the smile on the face of the person you served, or the smile on your face.

Let us start a movement through this blog, and go out and actually go and make a difference to the people out there.

Love story meets Viva la Vida

This is an awesome arrangement

Eternity

No words can describe this…

The hand of God

This story that I found on Esther Havens‘ blog is simply one of the greatest stories that I have had the privilege to read  in the last couple of months.

From Iraq to America

You must also just have a look at the pictures she takes on her website. It is some of the most inspiring pictures that captures the soul of the person and the moment.

May we all be touched by this…

Serving

So, this morning, on my way to church with my baby girl, I am starting look forward to the amazing worship and another great service, just to come down to earth, BIG TIME!!

Arriving at the baby care, there is no one to look after the kids, and guess who needs to look after the 3 little girls…

Yep, that would be me. At first I was very disappointed, as I was really looking forward to do some worship in the audience, and not being on stage for a change.

On my way home, from church, I realised, that through me serving, I was able to give the other 2 girls’ parents the opportunity to connect with God this morning, and not have to run after their girls the whole time.

Thank you Lord, for keeping me humble and giving me a serving heart, and please, keep it coming…

Everyday Life

Romans 12:1

So here’s what I want you to do, God helping you: Take your everyday, ordinary life—your sleeping, eating, going-to-work, and walking-around life—and place it before God as an offering.

One question, and one question alone…

Is this what you are currently doing?

If you are like me, you keep on trying to do things through your own power, and keep on thinking that life is going to be easy.

Just in the last month, the things that I have relied on God, and only God, things have worked out, usually better that expected.

How and what does one do, in order to get to this place in life, to REALLY place everything before the Lord, and watch Him work His miracles in your life?

I am sorry

Last night in home church, I found myself not focussing.

This all due to the fact that I had some expectations, and due to the mix of people that was present, and the level and topic of conversation, was not in line with what I had in mind.

Afterwards I was miffed about the fact that I didn’t get what I wanted, and I packed it off on my wife. Only for her to say, but if you get everything you want, and everybody is on the same level of spirituality, how are you going to teach the people that is young in their faith, what you have learned already?

At that point I dismissed it, and said,  but this is what I want – SELFISH!!!!

This morning, on my way to work, these word of my wife came back to me, and I just realised how true they were.

So, to all I didn’t pay attention to last night, I am sorry, and I will, through the grace of God, try and serve next time I am in the same situation.

Are you singing?

I got the following video from Steven Brewster‘s blog, and it got me thinking, are you singing, irrespective of what is going on in your life?

Share with us some of your testimonies, that, irrespective of it, you are still singing about…

Radical Christian

Hard to wish for your son, what Paul Washer wishes for his son, but is that not what we should be doing ourselves as well?

Being scared

Psalm 118:6 (The Message)

GOD takes the side of the helpless;
when I was at the end of my rope, he saved me.

Psalm 118:6 (NIV)

The LORD is with me; I will not be afraid.
What can man do to me?

Reading today’s section of My 30 Days Under the Overpass, they were speaking about this verse, and how, for the first time, they realised that they were unable to really commit to this verse in their lives on the streets.

This got me thinking…

Do you totally commit your fears to the Lord, and honestly believe that He will keep you from harms way?

I honestly know, I don’t.

Dear Lord
Thank you, for the knowledge that, through you,
I don’t have to worry about being harmed, as you will protect me, and nobody can take my life, without your permission. Thank you also for the fact that, I harm comes my way, You will be there with me, and give me the strength to get through, whatever the world throws at me.
Amen
